2025 Toyota Connected Year in Review: Celebrating the Innovation and Teamwork that Shapes Meaningful Journeys

by Jesse Ward

2025 was a year of milestones for the entire Toyota Connected North America team, from the launch of new tech innovations for the Toyota and Lexus brands to strengthened collaborations with our peers across the globe. Let's take a moment to reflect on the biggest news from the past year and how we’re living our mission to help shape meaningful journeys for our customers:

Toyota Connected’s employee-led affinity groups, including Women in Tech, Cup & Code, Run Club and more, have collectively bolstered team member engagement, enhanced our company’s culture, provided beneficial training and guest speaker opportunities, and supported the unique qualities of all.

In 2025, James George took the helm as Toyota Connected North America president and CEO, further expanding his role in guiding and executing strategy for the company as a global software center of excellence. Chief Technology Officer Dave Tsai was named to the Dallas Innovates AI 75 list, an honor that recognizes leaders, visionaries and creators who fuel the growth of artificial intelligence in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

We let our artistic side show with the much-anticipated installation of a historical mural in our Legacy West office space. These bold strokes not only reveal our origin, they also help bring a fresh, creative perspective to our workspace.

Our team hit the road for Datadog DASH 2025 in New York City, where CTO Dave Tsai delivered the keynote and our Drivelink team demonstrated (in an all-new 2025 Toyota Camry, of course!) how we use data to improve the in- and out-of-car experience for Toyota and Lexus drivers.

Safety is a key pillar of everything we do at Toyota Connected – whether that’s through our Drivelink telematics system that powers Safety Connect in Toyota and Lexus vehicles, or in our office procedures and trainings. When National Safety Month rolls around every June, we take time to reaffirm our commitments.

In honor of International Women in Engineering Day, we shined a spotlight on three Toyota Connected team members who are blazing new paths in the field of STEM.

Our TC4Good committee teamed up with Community Partners of Dallas to donate nearly 100 pairs of sneakers to students in need so they could start the school year off on the right foot! TC4Good also ramped up giving through a hands-on STEM volunteer event with Trinity Park Conservancy on Earth Day, hosted a gift drive during the holidays for two local nonprofits, and more.

Toyota Connected team members joined Toyota Motor North America for its annual AI Immersion Day, featuring interactive demonstrations of AI applications and tools developed in collaboration across the business. Our team members showcased some of the many ways we’re leveraging technology to improve the customer experience.

Dallas Business Journal's Collin County Growth Summit brought together the many people and companies that have shaped the growth of Collin County and solidified the area as a national business hub with a thriving economic landscape.

After years of collaborative work and development of innovative new features, Toyota Connected engineers and designers celebrated the launch of the latest-generation Toyota Audio Multimedia and Lexus Interface systems, launching in the 2026 RAV4 and 2026 ES. The team rolled out the new infotainment system with hands-on demos for automotive and tech media and alongside their peers at Toyota Motor North America. The result? A resounding round of applause from the press, with many describing the upgrade as a major step forward for our lineup and praising Toyota for incorporating customer feedback in shaping many improvements.

SWARM, Toyota’s Global Hackathon, brings together the brightest minds from around the globe to tackle challenges related to mobility, connected services, manufacturing, safety and more. More than 50 teams competed to build prototypes that have the potential to become future products, services and experiences. Five teams from Toyota Connected showcased incredible ingenuity, with one landing a coveted first place win for their idea to support customers’ vehicle maintenance needs.

We closed out the year with our annual Fall Business Update, which brought together the entire company for an in-depth look at how we deliver innovative products for our customers and partners across the globe and how we’re setting our sights on the future. As a team, we’re driving progress, embracing new ideas and shaping a smarter, more connected tomorrow.

Throughout all this hard work, we always build in time to celebrate together the way only Toyota Connected can. Our Thanksgiving luncheon and holiday festivities continue to be annual favorites that deliver a packed house!

It’s clear that our team has laid a great foundation for an exciting year ahead. Together we will continue advancing the way people move, connect and experience the world and there is sure to be more great news to come.

From all of us at Toyota Connected, we wish you a happy New Year!
